Practical Tips

Using Money in Fiji

Official Currency

Fiji's official Currency Converter is the Fijian Dollar (FJD). Notes come in $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 denominations. Coins in 5c, 10c, 20c and 50c.

Cards & ATMs

Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted in Savusavu town. ATMs are available at ANZ and Westpac branches. Carry some FJD cash for local markets and small vendors.

Best Place to Exchange

Exchange at Nadi or Suva airports on arrival, or at ANZ Bank in Savusavu town. Hotel exchange rates tend to be less favourable than bank rates.

VAT in Fiji

Fiji applies a 15% Value Added Tax (VAT) on most goods and services. Prices at Nuku Beach are quoted inclusive of all taxes β€” no surprises at checkout.

Wise & Revolut

For the best exchange rates, consider using Wise or Revolut to convert money before travelling. Both offer near mid-market rates with low fees β€” a significant saving on longer stays.

Rate Disclaimer

Rates shown are mid-market reference rates from the European Central Bank. Actual rates at banks or exchanges may vary. Always confirm with your provider before transacting.
